My friend Kim is a bakeaholic and a total foodie so naturally when she booked her super last minute trip to New York (last minute as in a day and half before she left), she had quite the list of restaurants and bakeries to visit. Just beware, the pictures below may make you extremely hungry…
NYC's BEST doughnuts...Lindsey and I always go here after our free Sunday morning yoga (compliments of Lululemon). It may be counterproductive, but we have seen the yoga instructors here too.
Best big EVER!
Geoff came down to NYC the night before, and we convinced him to join us too. Geoff is from Dallas but goes to Yale. He is the friend of my friend Mike at Baylor so he joined us in Destin for spring break this year. Crazy how I have friends all over the country.
The carrot cake cake doughnuts are my favorite!
Can you tell we liked them?
Unbelievable...some NY cops showed up to get their morning doughnuts.
Kim wanted to go to Carlo's Bake Shop (the bakery on TLC's Cake Boss) in Hoboken, NJ.
Only problem was the line was 2 hours long.
But we survived the wait.
It took 2 hours to get this number!!
My birthday cake! Was it worth the 2 hours for the taste of the cake? No I think Kim's taste better.
Was it worth the 2 hours for the experience? Definitely!
Hoboken has a beautiful view of the NY skyline.
Since this place claimed to have the best chocolate cake we had to try it.
Not gonna lie...it wasn't the best and it wasn't cake. It was some peculiar chocolate wafer, gluten free, vegan dessert. I think there was some false advertising, but it was unique. I will give it that.
After walking over 100 blocks dinner at IIII (it should be a slanted tally mark but this is as close as I'm getting) never tasted more amazing. Sesame seed crusted salmon.
Kim's turkey burger.
Ya, we liked it.
This place in SoHo has 8 different types of peanut butter and all sorts of special sandwiches and desserts.
The Bees Knees: Peanut Butter, Apple Butter, and Wheat Germ.
The sampler plate.
The Elvis: Peanut Butter and Banana.
