Beginning the "Bucket List"

This week decided it was time to start checking some important items off our New York City “Bucket List” starting with a trip to the Met.  Lindsey’s friend was hosting an event there and was able to get us in for free.  Since it was almost closing time, we were only able to see the Alexander McQueen guest exhibit which was incredible.  This eccentric designer pushed the limits with every article of clothing which is probably why Lady Gaga loves him so much.

We were able to have a little Baylor reunion in NYC with our friend Will who was in the city for training for his summer internship with J.P. Morgan.  It is truly unbelievable to me, but within just a few days we have already made friends with another 10 people from Texas.  Don’t ask me how it happened but it did!

Tonight we continued checking off items from our “Bucket List” by going to the famous Halal place on 6th Avenue that always has a huge line to get their famous chicken and rice.  Well we made it to 6th and about 50th street and did not see it so we grabbed some from one of the many other stands.  We should have walked another 2 block to 52th where the actual place was because sure enough there was a huge line for this famous street vendor.  Oh well we still enjoyed our dinner.

 Halal chicken and rice.
I still have no idea why these two guys put their stands right by each other.

Next up was the Serendipity restaurant which is famous for their iced hot chocolate.  We had to wait an hour but it was most DEFINITELY worth the wait!  Originally we were going to split a sundae, but Lindsey, Hannah, and I decided we should either go big or go home so we opted for both the banana split sundae with peanut butter and the strawberry cheesecake sundae.  To say they were incredible would be an understatement!  Our eyes were a little bigger than our stomachs though and by the time we were almost done we were feeling painfully full and before we knew it we were on the same sugar high as the little girl next to us.

Our server...he was a bit confused when I asked for a picture of him.

Two sundaes didn't seem like a whole lot when we were ordering...

But they were.
And we attempted to eat every bit of them.

Where did it all go?
A long walk home was a must to help rid us of our sugar high and fullness so we decided to stroll down 5th Ave. and look at all the upscale store windows.  From attempting to pose like mannequins to taking jumping poses in front of Tiffany & Co. which I am sure was not allowed we were quite the site.  We are already becoming official New Yorkers as we were able to direct a man from London and another from Scotland who were in the city on business to Times Square.  It has only been 4½ days since I have arrived, but I am already in love with the city.
Just a little fun in front of Tiffany's.

I was attempting to jump off the metal pole like Hannah, but I had a bit of difficulty going from a sitting position.  Once I finally got to the top, I realized I couldn't jump off since I have a strained arch in my foot.

We should be models.

Even at this hour the city is alive.
